Modest

Only modesty can breed success. I have noticed that ego-centric fools may make a go of it and have a short successful sprint in this business. But modesty and humility will bring greater rewards, happier customers and long term marathon like success that is much more fulfilling and satisfying.

Let go of short term high dollar returns for long term steady profits that continue to build upon themselves. We are building something for the long haul here folks, something to be passed down to future generations, we are not a flash in the pan or riding the old wore out chopper wave or just latching on to something we don't believe in to make a quick buck

We have two wheeled hearts and 10W40 veins, we want your business of course but will not sacrifice our souls to do so. We look to keep our heads high and or souls intact. We love being a part of this business and love our customers who allow us to pursue our passion on a daily basis.

Thank you!

Motorsickles and Skateboards

Its a phenomena or maybe not, really not sure how the connection came into play.

I grew up in a small little farm town almost next to the middle of nowhere so naturally as a kid it was dirt bikes, ATVs, snowmobiles, Huffy bicycles and the like, that is until that fateful day my relatives from Georgia came to visit and my cousin had a Nash skateboard in the trunk of the Buick, I rode the wheels off that thing for one glorious week on our little blacktop driveway

Now by coincidence we had a California Free Former I also dug out of the bottom of the toy box, until then that's what it was, an unused toy that collected dust and was all but forgotten but one could just not do the things this Nash would do

Soon thereafter I was begging moms for my very own skateboard and in typical moms penny pinching style i wound up with a Valterra off the shelf from K-Mart. Now of course by now I had worn every Thrasher magazine I could get my paws on absolutely thin. Staring at the pages long after my supposed "bed time" Eventually I got to move up to a Santa Cruz deck yet still had my Valterra trucks and wheels mounted, not to mention by now our driveway had become taken over with cinder blocks 2x4s and scrap plywood

A few years later came cars, girls, reefer and cheap stolen beer and for some time skateboards waned in my life. Later down the road after moving to California I picked them back up full force, hard not to living in San Diego a block from the beach!

Anyway, that's when motorcycles also came back into play, who isn't the king of cool cruising the strip on a CBR1000 or a GSXR750, unfortunately my funds and habits wouldn't allow this at the time but soon enough I had a loud stinking leaking dirty ratty mud crust of a bike, a 550 Yamaha Vision, google it......it was and still is a loathsome little machine but who cared! Finally a sickle of my own again and i was in my world king of cool and riding this to the skatepark with my board bungeed to the passenger seat.

So what is it?? Duane Peters to Ryan Sheckler all been spotted fooling with bikes with motors just as much or more than boards, maybe its the push the envelope thing, maybe its all points in between or none at all. I do know the History of Skateboarding coffee table book seems to get looked at far more than a same similar motorcycle pictorial also laying in the waiting room and that book is a heck of a conversation starter when folks are waiting on tires oil coolant or whatever

So today get out there and ride something with wheels, throw caution to the wind turn off the cell and just live fast for the moment! You will never be this young ever again and skateboarding just as much as motorcycling takes only you and your thoughts far away

Old is new

Look here y'all, its a new day a new dawn and a whole bunch of new new. The retrograde (to my knowledge) has passed us and now we got some work to do.

New gear new products new people new (old) bikes and just all sorts of new going on

If your one of the balls that were dropped CALL ME! Some Guy wants you back as a customer and i will burn a new tire off the Bandit or any other mindless testosterone stunt to let you know we want your business and the opportunity to earn it. I will return phone calls, be full on straight up and may not even check out your old lady when she comes into the shop with you, (unless she is smoking hot!) then i might!

Anyhow......get down to East End, not EEM, East End with the cool little skull logo and the burn out marks in the parking lot. We got tattoos, scars, piercings, free coffee and maybe a Red Bull your way.

Its all about the ride ya dig! Free prize to anyone who mentions this blog post in store! And keep an eye out for updates from the "Not quite an Iron Butt second time in a month trip to Ohio on two wheels" coming this weekend!

Yes......it could get a little R rated on this blog, I mean rarely does a Harley come through the door

My recent mind occupatiom

I think of few things else as of late

Yes.....lights in my mind.

Share this awesome, we gots work to get done ya dig??

Blessed

Four wheeled Friday

I had to duck outta the shop and traverse Asheville today....with impending rain, extreme fatigue and other excuses i hopped in the cage,

Things i learned.......urban sprawl could be just as bad as urban crowds, horns, brakes, no turn signals......how do people do this in town everyday.....glad i hang in Swanna-nowhere

Also.......women who do yoga.....thank you

Awesome Vintage British motorcycle restorations

Starbucks is not worth the wait in line and "medium" is apparently speaking an ancient un-translatable lost language

I wish i had and next time will even with impending rain take two wheels, no more excuses for not riding other than carrying a stack of lumber for the upcoming indoor half-pipe

Musical interlude.......its pretty awesome!

Post....Posty?? .....Postie???

I often don't speak of what I do for a job / living / income in certain circles, its not really any of those things, it mostly has become a pretty cool life, hard to describe to a lot of folks just what it is I do all day

Seriously......Some Guy also has a pretty cool life. I am currently sitting in a garage full of metric motorcycles covered in oil and grease and putting together an old Honda for a customer who also seems to be a pretty cool guy

Not much more needs typed, watch the video

Yes Tofu......we will get some pics about the 550

Shes pretty cool too it  would seem

Number 9......Number 9

Maybe you wanna see whats going on here in the shop, yeah we got some cool projects happening. Bikes being fixed built serviced and so on. Talk of bike nights, open houses etc etc. All that's really good and grand but the last couple days per the previous post Some Guy took his own advice and put some miles on the CB1100.

Was much needed. Phones busted wrenches, bloody knuckles aching feet and just a hell of a lot of adult responsibility going on called for blowing the stink off. I am fortunate enough to live just a couple miles off an incredible highway on a just as near equal as good of road.

NCDOT gave us Number 9!

Stop in downtown Black Mtn, coffee up at "The Drip" as the locals say, gas up at one of the pumps at the edge of town and go find the Bat Cave

RIDE!!!

Whats it really all about?? It's about the ride! Long straight stretches of two lane with your head held high, tight hairpin turns in first gear and the tach needle tempting the red......weaving in and out of city traffic to get to these places and more, and taking in a mountain view with a smoke and bottle of water after burning enough petrol to turn petcock to reserve. Coasting through the long sweepers down the parkway hoping not to hear the run outta gas sputters to get to the next refuel station to do it all over again.

We can yammer about t-shirts, wrenches, paint codes, cam swaps and tires all day, and we love all that too, however at the end of the day its about the ride, kick up your stand and go ride!

Inter-lude

I know I know......I been not blog posting. Several folks have asked of late where the blog-ness of Some Guy has been lately. Well......I been wrenchin!

Hondas Kawis Yama-haha-mama's.......you get the drift. Plenty of wrench projects and even some more on the business and expansion side of things. Its a one shot deal folks. If this don't werk its back to dirt floor basements and a van by the edge of the river

Tonight has been the final touches on a customers CB550, that is after an evening ride and pizza with friends

So enjoy this musical gem I happened upon.....an interlude if you will

What's Going on at East End...

Hi folks, sorry for the long gap between posts, it's been really busy. Which is generally a good thing. David and I have tons of things swirling around, so it does get a bit hectic, but all is well at the shop.

A quick couple of updates...

I have been working pretty hard on the EEM Webstore. I finally feel like we are making some progress on a very large project. There are still tons of items we would like to see there, but it's one step at a time. If you haven't seen it lately, go out and take a look at East End Motorsports. You will see the link to the Webstore on the left hand side.

As well, the EEM shirts are now in stock. Please come into the shop and pick one up or you can get one on the website as well. They are pretty neat and folks seem to love them...take a look.

And last but not least, we are planning a hell of a Grand Opening celebration on May17th! Take a look at the flier and save the date, we would love to see you there.
Thanks!
-TJ

Gasahol

OK!......That's a wrap on tonight's late night finish off the 4 wheeler session!

No......its not done but yours truly ruptured a gas line sending a good 5 gallons across the shop floor. Yes folks, I take pride in my work and feel I am above average at my craft but whoopsie daisies do happen ya know.

The line itself wasn't so much ruptured as the fitting connecting line to tank was pushed out as I was wrastling a motor back into its cradle.....By the time I had scrambled to get a catch for all this full gas tank gushing everywhere.....well.....twas but a drip by then,

Thanks goodness for mops, Special Kitty brand cat litter, a big ol' shop fan to suck the fumes out the back door and an in house warshin machine to wash and wash again all the gas soaked rags, mop heads and towels that were used to contain the spill.

On the plus side we have a really clean section of shop floor now!

Newer old

So i was asked where the blog post to end all blog posts was....hmm....writers cant be rushed. Maybe this one is it I dunno. Probably why I never got serious about a career with words....me and deadlines and editors don't mix too well. Whatever. Here is what I do know. Parts galore came in today, plenty of work orders waiting to be finished as soon as I check in all said parts and double check the price is right, no not the TV show, the parts. A bike went up for sale today that I would just love to own but alas I am sure it would end up owning me as material items seem to do that. Yes, this blog may just bounce all over all around up and down, its OK. Just please don't criticize my grammar, its meant to be phun round here OK, I mean, most folks go into the motorcycle business because they are passionate about motorcycles and for no other reason. I took a huge cut in pay to get back into the bike biz several years ago and never felt more satisfied. Oh yeah......the bike for sale, Hugh Owings of Hugh's Handbuilt put this up for auction recently. If you got the scratch you should buy it, help a good local feller out in fulfilling his vision too. We fulfill our vision by helping other peoples fill theirs.....http://www.ebay.com/itm/291077483123?forcerRptr=true&item=291077483123&viewitem
With all photographic credit to Mr Frank Bott You might be considered silly not to check him out also..................http://frankjbott.com/

Blogness takeover....

OK boys and girls.....some guy is now at the helm of this here blog for a while, of course Tofu is welcome to chime in at anytime however for the last few months several folks have urged this one to start writing and blogging again so here we go... A little background, I fancy myself a bit of a writer, I typically use the name "Some Guy" however most our readers likely know the true author behind that name. We will focus our attention on motorcycles and hot rods, however we may stray from time to time but mostly just to another love of mine which is music of nearly all kinds. We welcome followers feedbackers and commenters however keep it PG at worst ya dig?? This is for a business and we welcome all forms and walks of life round here To change the subject.....I and we are happy and excited about this new venture, the previous shop had run its course and I out of steam and running on fumes. We have nothing but love and respect for Jackson County NC and I am sure we will continue to visit often as it holds some of the best riding roads in WNC and beyond Now the gooder stuff! (If you want proper grammar read TIME) Our current shop is already hopping with service and sales of bikes and parts, many fine folks have stepped up to help us make this dream a reality and for that our most sincere THANK YOU! Tonight we have WNCW playing some Americana, coffee brewing, soup just got finished off and strong tobacco smoke rolling away with the train tracks at our back door. I will keep you updated on our current projects, right now.....a 1993 Honda CBR900RR, carb clean and rebuild, oil change and make that little two wheeled hot rod rip again!!!

Rainy Saturday here in Asheville

It's a rainy Saturday here in Asheville. The good news is there is plenty of work to be done and David is wasting no time on the Harley this morning. This FLHR is in for tires, brakes, fluids and a few other goodies. It's all good though, only 6 more work orders to go before he take his break. :)
